New Castle County Head Start Elects New Board Officers

Wilmington, Del.New Castle County Head Start, Inc., Board of Directors recently elected new officers for 2010:  Carroll Shannon, Chairperson; Randy Roberts, Vice Chairperson; Murray Dingwall, Treasurer; and J.D. Lee, Secretary.

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. Board of Directors Chairperson Carroll Shannon Chairperson Carroll Shannon, Ed.D. was elected to her fifth term as Chairperson of the board. Shannon is a long-term advocate for the Head Start program and has served in various positions on the board over the past thirty-five years including Chairwoman, Vice Chairwoman, Personnel Chair, Strategic Planning Chair and Nominating Chair. Shannon retired from a twenty-eight year education career in Red Clay School District in 1999. Shannon is a graduate of Boston University, George Washington University and Widener University. She also volunteers with Delaware Health Social Services Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities at the Masonic Home of Delaware.

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. Board of Directors Vice Chairperson Randy RobertsVice Chairperson Randy Roberts was elected to his first board leadership position since he joined the board in 2008.  Roberts is a Business Process Manager at JP Morgan & Chase in the Production & Creative Services area of marketing operations. Roberts attended the Graphic Arts Institute of Philadelphia, Rockford College, Penn State University and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy and University of Kentucky. He also volunteers with AIDS Delaware, the Ministry of Caring and Ronald McDonald House.

Treasurer Murray Dingwall specializes in accounting and serves as Director at Horty & Horty, P.A. This is Dingwall’s second term as treasurer of the board. Secretary J.D. Lee designs machinery for the pharmaceutical industry at FP Developments Inc. This Lee’s first term as secretary.

The board also welcomes new member Grettel Huber who begins her first term on the board in March 2010. Huber is a self-employed freelance Spanish interpreter.
